Join The Green Umbrella and The Live Green! Initiative to celebrate sustainability on the Iowa State University Campus at Sustainapalooza 2015! Sustainapalooza, which is a part of the Symposium on Sustainability at ISU, will be held from 5-8pm on February 24 in the Great Hall of the Memorial Union, starting with a presentation of the 2014 Live Green! Awards and ending with Tim Lindsey, Sustainability Director at Caterpillar, beginning at 8pm. From 5:30 to 8pm, there will be a lot of fun and educational things to do for you to celebrate sustainability!
First, feel like a sustainability celebrity by walking in on the Green Carpet! There will also be posters displayed showcasing what creative things community members and organizations have done to enhance the sustainability within their organizations and in the community this year.
Another component of Sustainapalooza is the ‘Green It Yourself’ centers, which will include: ‘Reducing Your Print While Surviving in the Wild” by JAX Outdoor Gear, a t-shirt hat for cancer patients and folder/bookmark from recycled maps & athletic posters service project with Shelly Codner of the Iowa DNR, ‘How to Make Fast, Healthy Snacks’ with ISU Dining, and ‘Make Your Own Natural Lip Balm’ and ‘Pine Cone Air Fresheners’ with Letitia Kenemer from the Iowa State University Workspace.
During the event, head over to the Green Wall of Sustainability to share what you have done to be sustainable and make your pledge to do something more to be environmentally, socially, or economically sustainable.
Don’t forget to grab your green prizes! There will also be refreshments served at the event, which will include some local ingredients!
